"I shall not die, but
live, and declare the works of the Lord. The Lord hath
chastened me sore: but he hath not given me over unto
death." Psalms 117:18-19
Personalize this Scripture
1. This means place your name into it.
This is how you make it yours. Can I do this? Absolutely yes! you can do it
because you have been grafted into it. You can make it yours on an equal footing
with the Psalmist himself.
2. Next, confess each phrase of it out
loud.
Speak out loud, "I, (Jack or Jill) shall not die!" Do it again!
"I (Jack or Jill) shall not die!" And again! "I (Jack or Jill) shall
not die!"
What will you do if you don't die? I will declare the works of the Lord just
like the Scriptures above tell me to do. O.K. fine. Now what?
Speak it out loud! "I will declare the works of the Lord!" And again!
"I will declare the works of the Lord!! And again! "I will declare the
works of the Lord.!"
3. Acknowledge the
chastisement of God for your waywardness and/or outright
sins!
Settle in your heart the truth of the cry of the Psalmist, "The Lord hath
chastened me sore!" If you feel the need, name your sins one by one to our Lord
and he will restore your sense of fellowship with him. By naming them one by
one, you are acknowledging exactly what the Psalmist said above, "The Lord
hath chastened me sore!"
4. Declare boldly out loud, "He hath not
given me over unto death!"
Say it louder this time, "He hath not given me over to death!" Stomp
your foot on this one, "He hath not given me over to death!"
5. Confess in the Scriptures means to "say
with your mouth what God said on the printed page of the Bible."
How long should I say with my mouth what God said on the printed page?
Confess any Scripture promise out loud till the answer comes. There is no limit.
Confess the Scripture promise over and over and over and over and over again.
Confess them day in and day out and start over the next day and repeat the
whole process the next day and the next day and the next day till our blessed
Lord makes your reality line up with his Word. Keep on keeping on keeping on
keeping on and before you know it, God will make his promise manifest and
materialize right before your eyes.
