The Job's Turkey Syndrome

Some of us were brought up to believe that prosperity was not for us Christians. Why everyone knew that to be a good, spiritual Christian we had to be poor as Job's turkey. Why everyone knew that the love of money was the root of all evil.

We all just knew that if we wanted to be right with God, we had to have less and less. But what about the following Scripture?

Psalms 35:27
27 Let the LORD be magnified, which hath pleasure in the prosperity of his servant. (KJV)

Do you realize what a difficult time it was for us who were brought up as we were to come to grips with the above Scripture? Look at it. God actually has pleasure in the prosperity of his servant. When Christians prosper, the God of the universe is pleasured by it. Somehow this just doesn't square with the Job's turkey syndrome. No wonder the next verse was written.
Look at it.

Psalms 68:19
19 Blessed be the Lord, who daily loadeth us with benefits, even the God of our salvation. (KJV)

The God of our salvation loads us with benefits, daily. From the Abrahamic covenant, we know these benefits include healing, prosperity ty, family well being as well as salvation. In this letter we are taking note of the prosperity aspect of them.

Since our blessed Lord has pleasure in our prosperity, no wonder He loads us with prosperity benefits daily. After all why wouldn't he? He loves us and it pleasures him. What a God of salvation we have. Now see what Job said about prosperity.

Job 36:11
11 If they obey and serve him, they shall spend their days in prosperity, and their years in pleasures. (KJV)

We glean from Job above that we need to pay more attention to serving and obeying him than we pay to our lack. Even more, we should pay more attention to service and obedience than we do to our "Job's turkey syndrome." Look at the promise above: they shall spend their days in prosperity; and they shall spend their years in pleasures. What a blessed future we have at the hand of our God of salvation.

Ps 103:2
2 Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits: (KJV)

Yes Lord. Let us not forget.
