The promise, prayer and perplexity concerning Christian Wealth
The Promise of It! Yes we are promised wealth in both the Old and New Testaments. Why shouldn't we be promised it? It is a grant by the grace of God in the Abrahamic covenant and we Gentile Christians are grafted right into the middle of this wonderful promise. Psalms 1:3 KJV 3 And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.
See what the Psalmist said in the preceding verse? We are told that whatsoever we do shall prosper. This is your heritage. We are meant to have wealth. What a promise! Now see the prayer for it.
The Prayer for It! Nehemiah 1:11 KJV 11 O Lord, I beseech thee, let now thine ear be attentive to the prayer of thy servant, and to the prayer of thy servants, who desire to fear thy name: and prosper, I pray thee, thy servant this day, and grant him mercy in the sight of this man. For I was the king's cupbearer. Look closely at Nehemiah's prayer. Before he got started he addressed the Lord, saying "I beseech thee!" Now he prays. First, he asked for God's attention to his prayer. Second, he identified himself as "thy servant." Third, he identified all those with him as "thy servants." Fourth, he included himself and all the others as those "who fear thy name." Then he prayed. He prayed the simplest prayer for prosperity we can find in all the Bible. He simply said, "Prosper thy servant I pray thee." Finally, he asked for mercy to help clear what he saw as the biggest hurdle, the king. Notice also that Nehemiah placed himself in a cloak of humility with the title, "I was the kings cupbearer." Model your prayer after this one. It is rich in spiritual depth. It is so simple yet so complete. He knew the promises of God concerning wealth and for him there seemed to be just one obstacle; the king himself. Now see the perplexity of this below. Many times the denial of your wealth is because someone in a more powerful position than yours, gets in the way of your receiving the wealth God promised you. Then we must go to God just like Nehemiah did and get God's mercy to get around him. This is where we live today. We are, in my opinion, turning the corner on this very thing in the next few days. We must pray daily about the mercy to get around the king who will hinder your accumulation of the wealth God promised you. And as you pray your way around the hindering king, ponder Jeremiah's perplexity concerning this subject. The Perplexity of it!Jeremiah 12:1-3 KJV 1 Righteous art thou, O LORD, when I plead with thee: yet let me talk with thee of thy judgments: Wherefore doth the way of the wicked prosper? wherefore are all they happy that deal very treacherously? 2 Thou hast planted them, yea, they have taken root: they grow, yea, they bring forth fruit: thou art near in their mouth, and far from their reins. 3 But thou, O LORD, knowest me: thou hast seen me, and tried mine heart toward thee: pull them out like sheep for the slaughter, and prepare them for the day of slaughter. Of course our Lord was righteous when Jeremiah pleaded with him. Jeremiah wanted more than just to plead with him though. He wanted to talk with God also. He wanted to ask God why do the wicked prosper? Why are they happy that deal so treacherously. Even Jeremiah knew that these evil people gave lip service to God but He was not in their hearts. He used the expression, "thou art near in their mouth, and far from their reins." Reins meaning heart. Jeremiah, like Nehemiah, cloaked himself in humility before God. Nehemiah portrayed himself as "thy servant." Jeremiah just reminded the Lord that He knew him, He had seen him and that He had tried his heart. Yes there is perplexity here. The wicked do prosper. Sometimes we do not understand. But remember this: God knows us and he knows them. He has made promises of wealth to us but he has made no promise of wealth to the wicked. God has promised us that all our sin, past, present and future, has been, is and will be forgiven based on the washing of them in the blood of Jesus. He has made no such promise to the wicked. Of course we shall have our share of wealth. See a complete faith building treatment of God wants you wealthy, in our book, How to Amass Abrahamic Wealth?
